The BIMLOGIQ Public Command - Duct Opening automates the process of creating openings where ducts intersect with walls and floors in Revit. Instead of manually identifying intersections and cutting openings, this command enhances efficiency by detecting ducts and generating precise openings based on user-defined settings.

Features

Select Ducts

Users can manually select ducts for which openings need to be created. This ensures that only the necessary elements are processed, improving workflow efficiency.

Include Ducts from Linked Models

If the duct elements exist in a linked mechanical model, users can select them using the Ducts in Link File option. This feature ensures proper coordination between MEP and architectural or structural models.

Select Target Elements

Users can define whether openings should be created in walls, floors, or both, allowing full control over how penetrations are applied in the Revit model.

Define Gap Size

To accommodate installation tolerances, users can set a gap around the openings. This ensures that ducts fit correctly during construction while allowing for necessary adjustments.

Merge Openings

If multiple ducts pass through the same element close to each other, this option allows merging nearby openings into a single larger opening rather than creating multiple small ones. Set Merge Tolerance Users can define a merge tolerance, specifying the distance within which separate openings should be merged. For example, setting a 50mm tolerance ensures that all openings within this range are combined into one.

Use Cases

Automating Repetitive Tasks In large-scale HVAC projects, manually cutting openings for hundreds of ducts is a time-consuming process. This command eliminates the need for manual work, saving valuable time.
